Matthew Putman, Inventor and Founder

Matthew Putman was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan. His love of traveling began at an early age by traveling with his family. His father loved RV’s and eventually became a RV Master Technician. Matthew went on to join the US Navy as an AEGIS Fire Controlman. After his military service, Matthew continued working as a technician until being disabled and unable to work in 2013. Matthew has traveled extensively throughout the US and now is active in the RV community. Matthew married his wife in 2015 and is happily married. After the death of his brother, he designed a custom flag memorial with the help of his wife, Valerie. They are still making and donating these memorials to the families of veterans. Matthew and Valerie experienced an electrical fire in one of their RV’s caused by the strain from the weight of the cable at the connection point. Searching but not finding a preventative solution, Matthew and Valerie developed Strain Guard to prevent this from happening to others.

Valerie Putman, Co-founder

Valerie Putman was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan. She has enjoyed outdoor activities and traveling throughout her life. She has had a career of Customer Service, Special Projects and Transportation Management. Her extensive experience and love for travel are irreplaceable in the Strain Guard family. Valerie married Matthew in 2015 where they began their travels together. Valerie's input to the design of the Flag Memorials as well as the Strain Guard have proven to be invaluable. Her dedication to  quality and customer service is unrivaled.

In addition to Strain Guard, Matthew and Valerie dedicate their time to preparing and delivering flag memorials for recently departed veterans and their families. Strain Guard is committed to being a service-disabled veteran owned business.
